About THE 1937 GROUP

The 1937 Group represents and embraces the cannabis culture that has flourished for decades. As a new vertically integrated entrant to the Illinois cannabis market, we look forward to showcasing what a values-based organization with a deep respect for people can accomplish. Our team has extensive experience, a long-standing passion for the plant, and gratitude for the opportunity to cultivate quality cannabis products and distribute them through licensed retail outlets. This is personal for us.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Lead Inventory and Fulfillment Agent plays a critical role in overseeing inventory control and product fulfillment operations within a cannabis manufacturing facility. This position ensures accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all stages of inventory movement—from raw materials to outgoing shipments—while providing leadership to the fulfillment team.

Responsibilities:

Operational Excellence

  • Lead daily and weekly inventory counts, audits, and reconciliations for raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods.

  • Supervise and support fulfillment agents to ensure accurate and timely preparation and packaging of wholesale and retail orders.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in inventory management systems (e.g., METRC, ERP).

  • Prioritize and delegate daily fulfillment tasks to ensure production timelines are met.

  • Monitor inventory levels and proactively report low-stock or overstock issues.

  • Coordinate and verify incoming deliveries and outgoing shipments, ensuring correct documentation and labeling.

  • Work closely with the Production team to align fulfillment with demand forecasts.

  • Assist in creating, refining, and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to inventory and fulfillment.

  • Foster a positive team environment focused on efficiency, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Customer Service

  • Ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment to meet internal and external customer expectations.

  • Communicate clearly with Sales, Distribution, and Retail teams to resolve order issues quickly and effectively.

  • Train and guide staff on proper handling and packaging techniques to maintain product quality and customer satisfaction.

  • Uphold professionalism in all communications that impact client-facing functions, such as order delivery and product availability.

Finance and Market Share

  • Support inventory tracking that contributes to accurate cost of goods sold (COGS) and financial reporting.

  • Help minimize product loss, spoilage, or miscounts that could impact profitability.

  • Identify inventory inefficiencies or material usage trends that can reduce waste and support cost savings.

  • Ensure prompt, accurate fulfillment of product launches and promotions to support sales goals and market growth.

  • Maintain close coordination with purchasing and forecasting teams to align inventory levels with sales velocity and seasonal trends.

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all state and local cannabis regulations, including METRC reporting and inventory controls.

  • Oversee labeling, batching, and documentation of all outgoing products to ensure they meet regulatory standards.

  • Support internal and external audits by preparing accurate records and supporting documentation.

  • Train staff on safe material handling procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Conduct state regulated inspections.

  • Investigate and report inventory discrepancies in accordance with compliance protocols.

  • Promote a clean, organized, and hazard-free workspace in all storage and fulfillment areas.

Other Duties as assigned by Management

Qualifications:

  • Experience:

  • 2–3 years in inventory or fulfillment roles, preferably in a cannabis or regulated industry.

  • 1+ year of leadership or supervisory experience required.

  • METRC or seed-to-sale software experience strongly preferred.

  • Skills:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Proficient in inventory software and spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets).

  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.

  • Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing/warehouse environment.
